Tell us a little about your business.
Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Allen & Hoshall is a full service design firm with more than 100-years of experience and a global reach. We provide architectural, engineering and surveying services to a wide variety of public and private clients.
What is your company’s biggest success in the past year?
The Main Street to Main Street Project, and in particular the Big River Crossing on the Harahan Bridge, has been our biggest success over the past year. The Project has been in design/construction since fall of 2012 and is scheduled for completion in October. I anxiously await the grand opening when the entire Memphis community can witness and experience, firsthand, walking across the Mississippi River.
What are the benefits of being a Chamber member?
The greatest benefits of being a Chamber member are the networking opportunities and the business contacts you can make. I also see the Chamber membership as a chance to give back to the community. The Chamber’s programs and activities have the potential to improve the welfare of our community. By getting involved in the Chamber, Allen & Hoshall is part of making our community a better place to live.
What about Memphis makes you most excited at the moment?
I feel a sense of excitement and optimism that’s slowly building in the city. It’s palpable and it’s moving across the entire community. Starting at the river and moving east you have the repurposing of the Harahan Bridge and the lighting of both the Harahan and the Hernando Desoto Bridges; Bass Pro; Service Master’s relocating to downtown; the Chisca Hotel and Central Station Developments; the expansion of St. Jude; the Edge District coming back to life; the Crosstown Concourse; the revival of Overton Square; U of M sports; the Grizzles, who had a great offseason; the Memphis Airport with cheaper fares and more flight options every day; Shelby Farm’s expansion; and the adjacent Parkside Development. It is a very exciting time to be in Memphis!
