The 164th Airlift Wing was relocated to Memphis International Airport’s southeastern corner in order to support its aircraft change from the C-141 to C-5 aircraft. Project requirements at the Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) Complex included two new 6,500 barrel JP-8 fuel storage tanks, a new Pump House building, a POL Operations Building, Commercial unloading and Fuel Truck Fill Sands, and a LOX/LIN storage area. Covered parking was included for the R-11 Tanker Trucks and R-12 Refueler vehicles. A Government Vehicle Fueling Station is located adjacent to the POL yard. Allen & Hoshall was responsible for layout, drainage, and connector taxiway design.
