Chattanooga, Tennessee
The Chattanooga Terminal expansion and renovation project involved modernizing and enhancing one of the region’s key logistics hubs. This extensive project aimed to improve the terminal’s operational efficiency, capacity, and sustainability, ensuring it meets the growing demands of the area’s transportation and logistics industries.
Allen & Hoshall provided project management and engineering services, ensuring that the design not only enhanced the terminal’s functionality but also maintained its aesthetic appeal. The project included the expansion of the terminal’s footprint, adding 26,000 square feet of additional space, and renovation of 36,000 square feet of existing facility. Key elements of the project include two new gates and an additional passenger loading bridge, an expanded security checkpoint, increased restrooms, a new business center, and new concessions including 2,750 square feet of post-security restaurant space with 60 seats in the dining area and 20 bar seats.
The project presented several challenges, including maintaining terminal operations during construction. To address this, the team implemented phased construction plans and employed innovative techniques to minimize disruption. Additionally, the site’s existing infrastructure required careful assessment and integration with new systems, ensuring that all upgrades met current standards while accommodating future growth.
The completed Chattanooga Terminal now offers increased capacity and improved operational efficiency, positioning it as a critical asset for the region’s transportation infrastructure. The project successfully modernized the terminal while preserving its role as a vital logistics hub, supporting the continued growth of Chattanooga and its surrounding areas.
